Repositories and workflows

Most coding requests work best after you select the repository Polka Codes should use. Repository context helps the assistant inspect the right files and keep follow-up work tied to the same project.

Select the right repository

1. Open Workspace.
2. Select the repository you want Polka Codes to use.
3. Confirm the active repository before you ask for implementation, review, GitHub, or merge help.
4. Include the branch, pull request, issue, or file names when they matter.

If a repository is missing or unclear, the assistant may ask you to choose one before it continues.

Use the workflow that matches the task

• Use ask or explore requests to understand code, clarify requirements, or compare implementation options.
• Use planning requests when you want an implementation plan before code changes.
• Use coding requests when you want Polka Codes to edit files and validate the result.
• Use GitHub requests for issue, pull request, Actions, and repository coordination.
• Use commit, pull request, review, and merge requests when you are ready for those Git workflows.

During a workflow

Longer tasks show progress while they run. Answer clarifying questions with the missing facts, and review any validation output before asking for the next step.

Choose Ask me, Approve safe, or Approve all in Approvals. Approve safe asks before consequential actions such as publishing a pull request, submitting a review, or merging. Approve all approves these actions automatically; repository permissions and required checks still apply. Changes apply to new questions across your chats. Questions already waiting for input still need your answer.

If the wrong repository is active

Select the correct repository and restate the task. Include the expected repository name and branch so the assistant can recover with the right context.
