Use this article to understand what Polka Codes is for and what to expect while the product is still pre-release.
What Polka Codes does
- Turns plain-language coding requests into repository-aware work.
- Helps explain code, plan changes, make edits, run validation, prepare commits, open pull requests, review pull requests, and support merge decisions.
- Keeps work in a chat workspace so follow-up requests can use the same project context.
What you need
- A GitHub sign-in.
- A selected or connected repository for project-specific work.
- A clear description of the outcome you want, including any constraints the assistant should follow.
What to expect
Polka Codes routes requests through focused workflows instead of acting like a general chatbot. It may ask clarifying questions when required details are missing.
Use Approvals to choose how Polka Codes handles action confirmations. Ask me sends them to you. Approve safe approves low-risk actions and asks about consequential ones. Approve all approves automatically, including publication and merge actions, subject to repository permissions and required checks.
Because Polka Codes is pre-release, features and limits may change before launch. Use the support docs or ask for product support in chat when you need current guidance.
